BIOLOGIST, ARTIST, CONSERVATIONIST
My home is by the ocean and my work is to protect it.
My passion to explore new places amongst the outdoors, inspires my curiosity to create art in a variety of ways. I currently work with multiple mediums including ink, watercolour, acrylic, and pyrography. Each medium I work with supports huge learning curves and in turn I feel I become a better artist by practicing a little bit of everything! Through my art, I have the privilege of sharing the importance and beauty of nature, by connecting art and science in my creations.
As much as I love to make art, I spend most of my time and days as a biologist on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I worked as the Marine Debris Coordinator at the Ucluelet Aquarium, to manage a citizen science study to collect data on microplastic pollution from the sediment of beaches.. This role took me on a path to understand how we impact our planet, and what I could do to help lead others and myself to protect it! I have recently started working in a lab out of the University of Victoria. Here I am looking for microplastics in the stomaches of different marine animals to understand the movement of microplastics in coastal marine food webs.
To tie my love for art and science I contribute 10% of all my sales to local non-profits,
who are dedicated to supporting the environment.

"Art is a language. It is an attempt to say something, and we know that it can also be more effective than words"
